Slight rise in Italian VAT

On the September 27^th the Italian Council of Ministers met to discuss the proposed VAT increase. Their aim was to postpone the VAT rate increase to the 1st January 2014 but unfortunately a decision was not made.

As a result, from the 1st October 2013, the standard rate of VAT in Italy goes up from 21% to 22%.

Other rates of taxation in the country remain the same, including the minimum rate of 4% and the reduced rate of 10%.
